Indian Businesses Express Interest in Guatemala

Companies from New Delhi are interested in making investments in the country in order to create a Central American distribution center.

Marco Antonio Muralles, head of the Guatemala-India Chamber of Commerce, added that, "the aim is that Guatemala can become a hub for merchandise heading for the south of Mexico and the rest of Central America".

Prensalibre.com reports statements from Muralles: "this will stimulate investment in various sectors, but above all in vehicle manufacture, pharmaceutical technology, textiles and call centers. However, the food, shoe, cigarette and ceramic flooring industries are also attractive opportunities".

Representatives from the government and private enterprise are looking to India for business opportunities and attracting investment.

From a press release from the Costa Rican Ministry of Foreign Trade (Comex):

A delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Trade, Anabel Gonzalez, will visit India next week, along with representatives from the Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER) and the Coalition of Development Initiatives (CINDE). An intensive agenda of meetings with government officials and entrepreneurs will take place in three major cities of the country (New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore) and the main objectives are to seek to promote the opening of communication channels, attracting investment and promoting exports.
