Julio Villeda, superintendent of the Tax Bureau, commented that only one company, Guatefacturas, has completed the authorization process. However there are more that are in process and five of them could possibly be certified within a month and a half.
Before the end of 2012 the largest contributors are required to issue electronic invoices according to the disposition of the Guatemalan Tax Administration.
Large taxpayers must issue electronic invoices, according to a Tax Administration bill.
Although the government had announced that electronic invoicing would be mandatory in 2014, the same Ministry of Finance has now announced that the process will be delayed at least another year.
Advances have been made in the process to implement mandatory use of electronic invoicing from the second half of 2012.
