Minister of Tourism, Ruben Rochi, held meetings, on the sidelines of FITUR in Spain, with the Spanish hotel sector, which has shown interest in investing in the country.

El Salvador seeks Iberia flights

Ruben Rochi, Tourism Minister, will meet with the president of Iberia, Fernando Coto, to discuss the Madrid-El Salvador flight again.

Elsalvador.com reports: "We will insist that the issue of the Madrid flight was a project that we had secured in April of last year and that we were going to begin with three weekly flights, but when oil prices shot up, they said that they were going to have to suspend all route expansions and they put us on pause," said Rochi."

The system, financed through an agreement with the Secretariat of Tourism in Mexico (SECTUR) is a tool which will facilitate, generate and use statistics from the Salvadoran Hotel Sector.

El Salvador - Milan flights still unconfirmed

Tourism minister, Ruben Rochi, said that the inaugural flight scheduled for this Friday, October 31, is still up in the air.

The official expects that within the next few days that there will be a notification by the Italian airline to clarify the situation.

"I am uninformed, it is possible that we won't have the flight this week, but we would expect a note from them," the minister said.

New bidding process for the La Libertad Port in El Salvador

The Salvadoran Corporation of Tourism (CORSATUR) will open for tender the construction of the second phase for the third time.

The bidding for the construction of the tourist pier at the La Libertad Port was declared null and void for the second time.
Tourism Minister, Rubén Rochi, clarified that this was not due to the lack of bidders, but because the sole bidder in the process did not meet the established financial requirements.
