By means of Decree 907, the MAG has been empowered to buy and sell seed and grain, bean and maize and materials for their production, in order to guarantee the price of the product and transfer it at a reasonable cost to the public.

A press release from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock in El Salvador states:

Purchase of basic grains for their production

In this sense, 4,000 metric tons of beans and 20 metric tons of corn will be imported with an investment of $7 million.

These grains will be sold directly to consumers by that Ministry, through established marketing channels.

By means of Decree 907: "the MAG is exempt from taxes, duties or other fees related to the acquisition, importation, fumigation, warehousing, delay, storage and marketing of the products mentioned, in order to minimize the indirect costs for the benefit of the Salvadoran people. "

These measures, to be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, will guarantee the supply of basic grains (beans and maize) for next year thus contributing to food security for the population and the stability of prices in local markets.
