El Salvador: Union Created to Support MSMEs

The new National Entrepreneurial Union of El Salvador (Unaes, acronym in Spanish) will introduce a government purchases law that would benefit the sector.

This Union is born with the goal of providing support and strengthening the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector. The Unaes is made up by businessmen from several productive sectors of the country and by Salvadoran entrepreneurs residing in the United States, totaling over 400 members.

According to ElSalvador.com, the vice president of this new entity, Salvador Wilfredo Martínez said that: "Many Salvadoran entrepreneurs, both in and out of the country, which are struggling because of a lack of support, have seen in Unaes a strategic partner, .. , a Union that will actually represent and fight for the sector's interests."

The new association, Aconimipyme, aims at offering advice in order to improve competitiveness of small and medium enterprises.

Investment Opportunities for Salvadoran MSMEs

Through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), $85 million have been allocated to promote investment in northern El Salvador.

The funds will finance MSMEs interested in developing projects that generate employment in various areas such as agriculture, catering and handicrafts.
