Due to problems faced by the sector, such as the drop in prices, imports of products such as cheese, powdered milk, and protein concentrate, among others, these announcements stated that it will not affect free trade of products at any time, said the MAG authorities.

Among the actions to be implemented by the MAG to strengthen the national livestock sector and improve its profitability are:

A new sampling system at the border posts in El Salvador, with more attention on the border post El Amatillo, where most of the products from Nicaragua and Honduras come in.
Starting from September, importers will have to comply with measures such as a certificate of analysis from the official laboratory, official health certificate, official certificate of free sale, among other requirements. Also, the product must come from a plant previously authorized by the MAG and approved for export from the importing country and the dairy products must come with negative analysis results for pathogenic microorganisms.
