El Salvador: Agricultural Sector Could Keep Operating

For the domicile quarantine decreed in the country, the authorities clarified that the agricultural companies will be able to continue working, as long as they comply with the requirements to operate.

A document from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) explains that agricultural producers and agro-industry collaborators will be able to continue their activities normally, as long as they comply with the requirements for circulation during the quarantine decreed by the Government of the President of the Republic of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele.

From the MAG statement:

March 24th, 2020. If you are an assistant, owner of the trade or company, independent producer or part of any of the stages of the value chains of any agricultural activity, you must take into account the following requirements to circulate during the quarantine.

Independent producer, you must carry the following documentation with you:
1. A letter stating:
What you do: farmer; livestock farmer; coffee grower; processor; fruit, vegetable or meat trader; milk collector; dairy processor; prepared food establishment, bakery or tortilla shop; fisherman, aquaculturist, beekeeper, pig farmer, poultry farmer or other productive sub-sectors.

2. You must carry your DUI or any document that supports your agricultural activity (Unique Beekeeper's Code, Iron Registration, Fisherman's License, Coffee Grower's License, etc.)

Quarantine: Total Closures Suspended

El Salvador Extends Domiciliary Quarantine

In order to contain the spread of covid-19, the government decided to extend the mandatory home quarantine until May 6.

Initially the authorities had decreed that the mandatory home quarantine would be in place from March 21 to April 20, however, President Nayib Bukele announced that it would be extended for another 15 days.
