El Salvador Launches Bidding for 350 MW in Energy Supply

From December 13th until December 21st, EDELSUR will accept comments and suggestions regarding the terms and conditions the of International Competitive Bidding for the supply of 350 MW of power and associated energy, process which will begin in July 2011.

The main objective of this initial period opened to suggestions is to receive queries or comments to the preliminary terms and conditions. These comments and queries should be directed to the following address: licitaciones@delsur.com.sv.

The preliminary dates established in the bidding process are detailed below:
- Reception of background information from bidders: April 7, 2011
- Notification of qualified proponents: May 19, 2011
- Submission of Financial Bids: June 17, 2011
- Publication of contract award: 7 and 8 of July 2011
- Contract signature: July 11, 2011

El Salvador Invites Tenders for 350 MW Power

Government and electricity distribution companies are preparing the terms and conditions for the contract bidding process that they plan to launch in October or November this year.

Luis Reyes, executive secretary for El Salvador's National Energy Commission (CNE), indicated that they are looking for up to 350 megawatts (MW) of energy, approximately 30% of current demand, in order to cover the expected shortage in coming years.
