El Salvador Invites Bids for 2 Highway Stretches

Stretches 3 and 4 of the highway "Longitudinal del Norte" would be put out to tender before the end of the year by the Millenium Fund (Fomilenio).

José Angel Quirós, Fomilenio's executive director, admitted the project is behind schedule, but explained they will have the definitive design next week.

Quirós also commented on the progress of other related sub-projects: "...before the end of the year they expect to award the contract for building a bridge in Nuevo Edén de San Juan, San Miguel,... and another in Nombre de Jesús, in Chalatenango".

The participating companies presented offers of between $20 and $31 million include Astaldi, FCC Cosntrucciones, Constructora Santa Fé and Equipos de Construcción.

El Salvador Awards Highway Stretch for $21.5 Million

Stretch 4-A of the Northern Longitudinal Highway will be built by company Linares S.A. for $21.5 million.

It starts at “Jesús Sensuntepeque” Bridge and must be completed in no more than 480 days.

“10.000 inhabitants from Cabañas will benefit with this additional 23.22 kilometers of highway”, reported Elsalvador.com.

El Salvador: Companies Bid for 30 km of Northern Highway

January 2010

Six companies presented bids for building the sixth stretch (30.4km) of the highway known as "Carretera Longitudinal del Norte".

Bids ranged from $23 million to $31 million. The stretch to be built runs from "Ciudad Barrios" in Osicala to "Delicias de Concepción" in Cacaopera.
