El Salvador Approves $60 Million for Treatment Plant

Finally, the Legislature has approved a loan from the French government which is part of the funding required to renovate the water treatment plant in Las Pavas, La Libertad.

From a statement issued by the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador:

Following the ratification of the loan agreement between the Government of El Salvador and NATIXIS (Department of Institutional Activities), in the French Republic, with which the water supply in the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador will be guaranteed, deputies have pointed out the benefits which will arise from the renovation of the water treatment plant in Las Pavas for the inhabitants of the greater San Salvador area and thanked the French ambassador to the country, David Izzo, for the interest shown over the approval and ratification of the loan.

"The resources will be allocated to bringing clean water to the greater San Salvador area, we are very pleased. We had almost reached the deadline to ratify it and with good teamwork different parliamentary groups reached an agreement, this shows that when there is a will we can move forward as a country," stressed the president of the Legislative Assembly, deputy Guillermo Gallegos.

Congress has approved a loan from the French government to finance the construction of the water treatment plant in Las Pavas.

With the aim of finalising the funding for the "Project for the Renovation of a Drinking Water Treatment Plant in Pavas and Network adduction", representatives of the Legislative Assembly approved a financial protocol between the governments of France and El Salvador, for an amount of € 53 million (US $59 million).
