Durman Esquivel bought another company in Colombia

Costa Rican firm, Durman Esquivel, which is currently a part of the Belgian Aliaxis Group, bought PVC Celta, a pipe factory en Barranquilla. This is in addition to another company they already bought - Tuvinil - that is located in Cartagena.

Mario Gomez, legal representative of Durman Esquivel, said that the deal was sealed on August 11.

The purchase of the Colombian company's assets cost around $12 million and was done via Tuvinil, a Durman Esquivel subsidiary in that South American country.

Aliaxis Latinoamérica (Alila), the company formed from the merger of Costa Rican firm Durman Esquivel and the Belgian group Aliaxis, acquired a PVC pipe plant in Brazil for some $45 million.

Mario Gomez, legal representative of Durman Esquivel, said that the group bought the Provinil plant from Brazilian firm Companhia Providência Indústria e Comércio.

Colombian Investments in Central America

EPM Group bought to Ashmore Energy International electricity distribution company ENSA of Panama and DELSUR of El Salvador for $ 200 million.

The Corporate Group EPM (Empresas Públicas de Medellín) is dedicated to providing public services related to electricity, water, sanitation and telecommunications, through 12 subsidiaries. It is owned by the Municipality of Medellín, governed by Colombian commercial law.

Thermaflex Invests $4 Million in Panama

The thermal insulation company will set up its factory in 2011 to serve markets in Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.

This month the company will open a local office in the Panamanian capital's Panama Pacifico complex located in the Howard area.

Thermaflex's Latin American director, Alex Huis, comments that, "in 2011 the company's regional distribution center for Central and South America will move from Mexico to Panama," according to Prensa.com.

Pintuco Acquires Company in Costa Rica for $5 million

As part of its expansion plans in the Central American market, the Colombian company Pintuco has acquired the operations of the paint company Vastalux.

A press release by Pintuco states that : "The acquisition will be legally formalized once the range of processes required by Costa Rican law has been completed and all other conditions agreed with Vastalux have been fulfilled."
