For next harvest (2010-2011), farmers estimate exports for 4.7 million quintals.

Ricardo Villanueva, president of the National Coffee Association (Anacafe), told Prensa Libre "Climate has been harmful during the present harvest and has affected coffee production. As an important piece of information, tropical storm Agatha caused losses for 2 percent of the 2010-2011 coffee crop."

Salvadoran Coffee Exports Down 39%

September 2012

As of August exports totaled 1,322,330 qq., 39.6% less than in the same period last year when they reached 2,190,691 qq., according to information from the Salvadoran Coffee Council.

As for income, the drop was was 31.6%, falling to $302.9 million for the current period compared to $441.6 in the previous cycle.

Guatemala: Shortage of Coffee to Comply with Contracts

Bad weather has affected producers in the Pacific coast, some of which are not complying with contracts due to lack of the bean.

Ricardo Villanueva, president of the National Coffee Association, said excessive rains during flowering season left an estimated loss of some 230,000 bags of 60 kilos.

Salvadoran Coffee Exports Down 25%

In the first 11 months of the current coffee harvesting season, 1.28 million hunderedweight was exported, 25% less than in the same period of the previous season.

According to data from El Salvador's Coffee Council, coffee exports so far in 2010 are 1.278 million compared to 1.705 million hundredweight in the same period of the 2009 harvest.

Guatemalan Coffee Exports Fall by 17.4%

Exports in June were 400,100 bags of 60 kilos each, 17.2% below the same period last year.

According to information supplied by the Guatemalan National Coffee Association (Anacafé), in June 2009 total coffee exports were 483,283 bags.

The Anacafé report states that total exports from the current harvest (October 2009 – June 2010) are 2.72 million bags, 0.08% below the 2.74 million bags exported in the same period of the previous harvest.
