An analysis of Google's most searched words on the web in the days before Valentine's Day, has revealed that searches by Costa Ricans for the word "Chocolate" for example, increased by 99% , while searches for "cards" increased by 43%, and “flowers” by 24%.

An article in Diario de Centro America reports that "This behavior shows that ‘more and more people are ignoring window displays and are look for their gifts with a single click on the Internet’, said Google communications manager for Colombia, Central America and the Caribbean, Susan Pabon."

"Retailers should take advantage of seasons such as the current one, the month of love and friendship, to promote their products online. It is clear that more and more people are online looking for products and services. Against this background, what better strategy is there to take advantage of the large number of users connected to the web, in order to get publicity," explained Pabon.
