The Superintendent of Telecommunications (SUTEL) of Costa Rica informed that June 2 is the deadline, reminding entrepreneurs that, according to the Telecommunications Act, any company that provides telecommunications services to the public or that operates and exploits public networks, requires authorization from the entity to operate.
The Superintendent of Telecommunications of Costa Rica estimates that it will deliver the first licenses to operate in the market in July.
Market supervisor Sutel has already approved 32 companies offering Internet, VoIP and business networking services.
The Telecommunications Superintendence (Sutel) will host an informative meeting with companies interested in obtaining a frequency for mobile telephony services.
A new mobile phone operator could enter the market in February 2010. The cartel will be published between June and September 2009.
