Database for Panamanian MSEs

The “MSE Visibilization” program seeks to incorporate micro and small enterprises into the financial system.

The project, developed by the Panamanian Credit Association (APC), incorporates a database from the sector in order to carry out credit evaluation.

Johana Pérez, project coordinator for the MSE Bureau of the APC, said to that "up to now there have been meetings between entities, both state and private, to establish alliances that will strengthen the endeavors that are being carried out."

Credit access project for Panamanian Micro, Small and Medium sized businesses

The project seeks to establish mechanisms to collect credit information and evaluations in order to facilitate access to financing for small and medium businesses.

The project, which will be development over 40 months, includes an investment of $1.7 million dollars, of which 69% will be provided by the IDB's Multilateral Investment Fund; the remaining 31% will be provided by the Panama Credit Association (APC).

Multibank Gets $ 6 million Loan

The IIC financing will create effective mechanisms to channel credits to SMEs in Panama.

The Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) approved a loan of up to $ 6 million to Multibank, Inc. for the financing of SMEs in Panama by leasing and factoring, working capital and housing for Panamanian citizens.

Costa Rica: $3.4 Million for Micro-companies

"Microfinanzas", a micro-finance project from the Development Banking System, would provide financing for 4.000 companies.

Loans will have 10 a year term, a maximum of $8.500, and interest rates of 20%.

"The money originates from Finade, a state development trust, and will be administered by bank 'Bancredito'.

$16 Million for Guatemalan SMEs

July 2009

BCIE granted a credit line of $16.3 million to the Bank of Rural Development, known as Banrural, to be loaned to SMEs.

Banrural CEO, Samuel de la Cruz, stated that the interest rate will be around 12%, for 3 to 5 years. This loans will be available starting next Tuesday.
