Tuesday, June 2, 2009

El Salvador is ranked 12 in Latin America in terms of market size, and it is expected that the telecommunications industry in the country will generate $1.5 million in 2009, said José Magaña, analyst and author of the report. "Mobile and broadband services have been the engine for growth in the penetration of the population, which at the end of 2008 was 100% and 2% respectively." Pyramid Research expects the Salvadoran telecommunications market growth to be greater in mobile data services, fixed broadband lines and paid television, all of which are segments with low penetration up to and including 2009."

The 28-page report by Pyramid Research offers a detailed analysis of the competition in fixed and mobile telephone sectors, figures for market share of technologies and services, and monitoring of the introduction and propagation of new technologies such as WiMax, IPTV and VoIP. This study provides a comprehensive view of the Salvadoran telecommunications market through an analysis of major trends, assessment of short-term opportunities, and assessment of risks and upcoming factors.
