Orlando Carpintero wrote in Prensa.com: "U.S. courier companies FedEx and UPS and the German Company DHL will be restructuring at the global level, including massive personnel layoffs to reduce costs. However, the three companies stressed that Latin America and Panama maintained a solid growth and, therefore, no staff reductions will come to Panama or the rest of the region.
The company DHL has announced that starting January 2015 that the average increase in prices in Guatemala, Costa Rica and Panama will be 4.9%.
In seeking to mitigate the effects of the crisis, the trade of goods is redirected, which means opportunities for logistics operators.
Total shipments by DHL Express Panama grew 19% in September when compared to the same months last year.
Copa Airlines, a regional carrier, increased its revenues for cargo in the first quarter of the year by 25.5 percent and the courier service DHL reported growth of 6 percent.
