Costa Rican legislators reject higher taxes on gasoline

Costa Rica's legislators rejected the government's proposal to increase taxes on gasoline in order to remove them from diesel.

Under a deal struck by the legislators and the executive, the shortfall in the nation's finances will be met instead by increased taxes on offshore banking, luxury vehicles, cigarettes, gambling and liquor.
