Costa Rica will have a new Internet connection

The country will have a new option via a connection to the Internet submarine cable that goes from Colombia to Florida, USA.

The CFX-1 is a submarine cable network more 14 thousand kilometers long that is located at a greater depth in the Caribbean Sea.
At a cost of $80 million, it will start functioning at the end of this month at a speed of approximately 100 megabytes per second.

Global Crossing access will boost Costa Rica's cybernauts

Costa Rica's Internet capacity is expected to increase by at least 35 percent from July when it will gain access to Global Crossing's Pacific cable connection.

The new access will permit an additional 200,000 connections.
Costa Rica is already connected to Internet by the Arcos trans-Atlantic cable and the Maya cable that runs from Florida to Panama.

More Connectivity for Central America

A 6,000 km long submarine cable with 100 Gigabit capacity will expand digital links between Central America and the rest of the world.

A statement from Alcatel-Lucent reads:

A consortium consisting of the telecommunications operators Cable & Wireless Communications, Setar, Telconet, Telefónica Global Solutions and United Telecommunication Services (UTS) has signed a turnkey contract with Alcatel-Lucent to deploy a 100G submarine cable network, in the Pacific Caribbean Cable System (PCCS), which will link Jacksonville Florida with Manta in Ecuador.

New Submarine Fiber Optic Cable by America Movil

With an investment of $1.1 billion it will connect to Brazil, Colombia, the United States, Guatemala, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

The company announced that it has completed the installation of a submarine fiber optic cable which guarantee services. This project will connect Brazil, Colombia, the USA, Guatemala, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
