Costa Rica to Tender Hospital Construction

It has been announced that in the next few days a tender will be published for the design, construction and equipment of a new hospital in Turrialba, under the turnkey mode.

From a  statement issued by the Costa Rican Social Security Department:

The Board of Directors of the Costa Rican Social Security Department (CCSS) gave the green light on Thursday for the tender for the design, construction and equipment of the new William Allen hospital in Turrialba.

According to Dr. María del Rocío Sáenz Madrigal, executive president of the CCSS, the decision was adopted, after seeing the scope of the project and the architectural approach for this new hospital created by the technical team from the Medical, Financial and Infrastructure and Technology departments of the institution.

$178 million Tender for Hospital Construction

At the end of the year a tender could be launched for the design and building of a 70,000 square meter hospital in Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

The hospital will require a total investment of $178 million, and will have, in an area of 70 thousand square meters, 64 clinics, 12 operating rooms, 350 inpatient beds, 43 observation beds in emergency rooms, and 4 delivery rooms.

The Social Insurance Department in Guatemala is preparing a tender for the construction of the project "Health City", which includes the construction of four hospitals on 116 thousand square meters and which is valued at $459 million.

It is expected that in May the bidding process will start so that construction can start no later than October.
