Costa Rica: Few Exclusions in China FTA

The country would request excluding products from the Free Trade Agreement only in very justifiable cases.

Local industrialists requested to exclude products which already have no tariff and are not produced in the country. In response, Commerce Minister Marco Vinicio Ruiz argued that it's very complicated to explain the Chinese as to why such exclusions.

FTA Costa Rica - China: Fifth Round

Chile helps Costa Rica with China FTA

Chilean experts are giving support to Costa Rican authorities to prepare for the FTA that the Government plans to begin negotiating with China in less than six months.

During the visit of Chilean president, Michelle Bachelet, cooperation mechanism in place were reaffirmed, such as support for trade negotiations, said the Costa Rica minister of Foreign Trade, Marco Vinicio Ruiz.

China Won't Negotiate Sugar with Costa Rica

China has an adamant stand against the entry of Costa Rican sugar to its market, in the negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement.

Although this may not completely exclude the product from the treaty, it might complicate the negotiation, said Marco Ruiz, Costa Rican Trade Minister.
