Costa Rica and Nicaragua: Business Above Politics

Beyond the political differences that some insist on highlighting, businessmen from both countries have developed a growing business relationship that has led to the trade balance growing by more than 40% in the last six years.

From an editorial article by the Superior Council of Private Enterprise of Nicaragua:

In recent years, news about the relationship between Nicaragua and Costa Rica has been focused mainly on discord between the two countries, territorial disputes, rulings by the International Court of Justice, the migratory border crisis, and differences between presidents. Much ink and paper has been used to highlight the negative, that which sets us apart.

However, there is an agenda beyond political and media differences.  

Although it is not written about as much, it does exists. It is real and has brought us much closer than what is perceived. It is a relationship that has been developed between companies and citizens of both countries, a reality that unites us far more than than which separates us.

The union of private companies in Nicaragua will be promoting a meeting in the week of October 17 with Costa Rican business owners in order to explore new business opportunities.

The head of the Superior Council of Private Enterprise (COSEP) told ACAN EFE "... 'We have studied the main products lines being imported from Costa Rica, starting with clinker, which is a linchpin in the cement making process, and "concentrates for preparing soft drink syrups, etc.'."

Guatemala: Trade Mission to Turkey

Companies from all sectors are invited to participate in the business meeting to be held in Ankara on December 18.

The meeting between Turkish and Guatemalans businessmen will be held in the framework of the signing of the Reciprocal Investment Promotion, scheduled for that date, according to the Guatemalan government.

Peruvian Companies to Visit Honduras

An announcement has been made that in October a group of Peruvian investors interested in exploring business opportunities will visit Honduras.

As part of the negotiations for the signing of the free trade agreement between the two countries, foreign trade authorities of Honduras reported that a group of Peruvian entrepreneurs will arrive in October and meet with Honduran companies interested in analyzing business opportunities.
