Costa Rica: LPG Storage Contract Awarded to Felguera

The State refiner awarded the Felguera group the construction of the new infrastructure for storing liquefied gas.

I.H.S.A. Felguera Spain won the tender and will be responsible for the design, purchase of materials and construction of six storage facilities of 250 m3 each.

The project will cost a total of $ 10,481,266.00 and will start construction in July of this year for completion in October 2012.

Once the project is completed, storage capacity will be increased to 1,500 m3 (9,000 barrels) of liquefied gas at the refinery facilities in Moin.

Works to Store Liquefied Petroleum Gas Awarded

The Costa Rican Oil Refinery company (Recope) has awarded the construction of four areas to store LPG and related works to the Spanish company Felguera IHI.

A press release by Recope states that:

“The company IHI Felguera SA (Spanish) will be responsible for building the four areas and their related works, on the project called System and Storage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (SAGAS in Spanish) after having been awarded the works.

The Costa Rican Oil Refinery has received four bids for the tender for the project "System and Storage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (SAGAS)."

Bids were opened on November 8, 2011for the public procurement tender number 2011LN-000009-02 for the four areas and related works on the project entitled ‘System Storage and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (SAGAS)’ where offers were presented by four companies from which the most suitable will be selected by the Costa Rican Oil Refinery (RECOPE SA)

Colombian Company Pacific Rubiales will Export Gas to C.A.

January 2010

On mid-2010, the company will begin shipping 30 million cubic meters of compressed gas to Panama each day.

The announcement was made by Pacific Rubiales president Ronald Pantin, who explained that the gas will be used to supply gas-fired generation plants.

"The product will be transported by boat, from the Caribbean port of Coveñas, to the "La Creciente" fields in the department of Sucre, located in the country's northwest.

Costa Rica to Invest $155 Million in Gas Plant

With the new plant, the country will double its storage capacity for liquefied petroleum gas.

Gabriela Montes de Oca is the head of this project in Recope, the state owned energy company. She assures the plant will save the country $8 million in freightage costs.
