Costa Rica: Construction Prices - November 2017

The indices of prices for buildings and low-income housing registered inter-annual variations of 7.53% and 4.29%, respectively, in the penultimate month of the year.

From a statement issued by the National Institute of Statistics and Census:

Price indices for construction based on February 2012 are a set of twenty statistical indicators, which measure the change in prices of materials used in the construction of different kinds of works. They are composed of the buildings price index, the social housing price index, and a group of nineteen price indices for raw materials and special services. 

In November 2017, the variations of each of these price indices were:

Buildings price index (percentage changes November 2017)  
Monthly: 0.21% (November 2017) 
Year: 7.53% (December 2016 to November 2017) 

The level of the building price index is 105,596,  while in the previous month it was 105,375. The elements that showed the greatest positive contribution to the monthly variation of September 2017 were: copper wire and PVC conduit. 

Price index of social housing (percentage changes November 2017)
Monthly: 0.11% (November 2017) 
Year: 4.92% (December 2016 to November 2017) 

The level of the index for prices of social interest housing is 105,426, compared to the previous month when it was 105,310. The elements that showed the greatest positive contribution to the monthly variation seen in November 2017 were: fibrolit house and wooden framework.
