Costa Rica: More and More Burgers

There are at least 15 Costa Rican restaurant chains where burgers are the highlight dish on the menu.

International brands include Mc'Donald's with its 50 stores, Burger King with 31 and Wendy's with 13 restaurants. Other fast food franchises with burgers on the menu are "Carl's Jr., which debuted in 2011 and has six locations, and Smashburger, which opened its first store in Lincoln Square, earlier this month."

Hamburger Factory, with six locations, and Hamburguesía are the main Costa Rican brands competing in these segment.

Nacion.com adds that "less specialized, but with a menu that highlights burgers are also Denny's, Applebee's, Mo Joe's, Moe's, The Market and Tony Romas, among others."

Fast food: More Investments for 2020

In Costa Rica, the Burger King restaurant chain announced that it plans to open three locations in San Jose, Heredia and Alajuela in the coming months.

According to information from the company, the restaurants that will begin operating in the next two months will be located at Universidad Latina de San Pedro, Santo Domingo de Heredia and City Mall, Alajuela.

In the same month that two fast food franchises closed operations, another chain has announced that over the next 18 months it will be investing $4 million in opening three new stores.

At the moment the fast food chain Johnny Rockets operates in three locations, in which it has invested about $2 million.
