Costa Rica Invites Bids for Hospital Land Purchase

The $4 million invitation to tender is to acquire land on which to build the new Max Peralta Hospital.

The land to be offered should be in Cartago province, not more than 6 km from the hospital's current location.

The optimum size for the site is considered to be between 110,000 m2 and 150,000 m2, for the purposes of building a regional hospital. It will need to have space for parking, buildings, sewage and solid waste treatment with a portion also to be set aside for potential future growth.

At least 70% of the land must be usable.

Gabriela Murillo, Infrastructure Manager for the Social Security Fund (CCSS), said the next step is to verify the offers received. She added the decision on which property will take several months.

Costa Rica: Tenders Invited for $120 Million Hospital Development

Bidding documents have been published for the new East Tower of the Calderón Guardia hospital.

Costa Rica's social security agency (CSS) has published details of a project to consult, build, equip and maintain the new wing of the hospital.

Danilo Monge, Special Projects Director for the CSS, told elfinancierocr.com that the East Tower will contain 23,000 square meters of floor space to be built in three stages and is expected to be ready by 2016.

Costa Rica: Heredia Hospital Construction Progresses

With an $85 million total investment, works at the Heredia Hospital complex are 73% completed.

The six buildings comprising the hospital complex are already built, and they will be equipped between April and May 2010.

"...to the moment we have complied with each of the milestones in the schedule, so it is expected that Edica Ltda, the company in charge of equipping the buildings, could deliver the complex to the Costa Rican Social Insurance Authority by April 2010", said construction chief Robert Sánchez Acuña, in an article in Prensalibre.cr.
