Costa Rica Launches $ 4 Million Tender For Reconstruction of Bridges

The National Emergency Commission invited companies to bid for the reconstruction of 11 bridges in the province of Limón.

Preliminary studies and design of the bridges was done by the Department of Bridges, Public Works and Transportation, an entity that in turn will be the Executing Unit of the works which are performed by the Division of Public Works.

After this process, the Board approved the investment for the reconstruction of these bridges that were damaged by floods, in the areas of Pococí, Guácimo, Siquirres and Matina

In Pococí it was approved the construction of bridges over the La Zota, Palacios and Reventazon rivers.

In Guácimo, works will be carried out on the San Bosco, San Luis and Guácimo rivers.

In Siquirres, works will take place on bridges located on Maryland, Las Cabras and Seis Amigos rivers and in Matina on bridges over rivers Banasol and Malcriado.

Construction of Bridge Over San Juan River Starts

With an investment of $30 million, construction has begun on the 360 meter bridge which connects Nicaragua to Costa Rica by road.

A press release from El Pueblo Presidente reads:

The 360-meter bridge over the Rio San Juan connects Nicaragua to Costa Rica. Construction of the bridge has begun and is being managed by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Prequalification for Fourth Bridge Project in Panama

The process to select the right company for the design and construction of the fourth bridge over the Canal will include a prequalification process.

In order to develop a fair and transparent process, the Cabinet has authorized the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) to carry out a prequalification process of companies for the design and construction of the fourth bridge over the Panama Canal.

Third Bridge Over Canal to be Tendered in August

With 4 lanes, and measuring 4.6 kilometers long and 75 meters high, the bridge will cost about $280 million and its construction will take 32 months.

The tender for the third bridge, located on the Atlantic side, will take place in August, according to the outgoing administrator of the Panama Canal, Alberto Alemán Zubieta.

Three Offers for Honduran Bridge Projects

April 2011

On May 6 the offers will be opened for the project to build the La Democracia and Humuya bridges.

The companies Sermaco, Condelta and Prodecon have submitted bids for the bridge construction contract and the winner will need to invest around $12 million for one bridge alone.
