The continuous increase in the flow of tourists coming to the country explains some of the 10% growth seen in the hotels and restaurants sector up to June.
This growth in hotel activity is based on an increase in tourist arrivals, which in 2015 grew nearly by 5% compared to the previous year.Figures from the Monthly Index of Economic Activity by the Central Bank show that in the first half of the year the activity grew by 6.5% compared to the same period in 2015.
Despite an increase of 3.4% in 2008, hotels were unable to meet the demand for tourist accommodations.
According to sigloxxi.com, "For the sub-administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority, Carl Fredrik Nordstrom, supply increased, but "it is never enough," bearing in mind the increase in tourists that are visiting the country.
3.762 business meetings between wholesalers and businessmen in the region took place.
The event featured participation of 158 wholesalers and tour operators from 41 countries, 155 exhibitors from the region and 91 international media.
Laprensagrafica.com published, "This year, seven out of 10 participants attended the fair for the first time, this will open the doors to new business contacts, said Roberto Robles, director of the Guatemalan Tourism Institute (INGUAT). Next year's fair will take place in Panama."
