Costa Rica: Hospitals Preparing to Make Investments

Three private medical centers are planning to invest $55 million in the renovation and construction of infrastructure in the next five years.

The investment plan by the Hospital Metropolitano includes the opening of new headquarters in four provinces in the next five years, which will require an investment of more than $13 million.

Nacion.com reports that "... In the case of Hospital Clínica Biblica, plans are being made to build hospital complexes in Santa Ana, Heredia and Tres Ríos in the next five years.  The investment exceeds $40 million."

Private Hospital Announces New Investments

In Costa Rica, the Hospital Metropolitano announced that in the next three years it will invest in the opening of four new locations and in the expansion of services in some branches that already operate.

Although no further details are provided regarding the locations of the new headquarters of the business group, directors of Grupo Montecristo, the main shareholder of Hospital Metropolitano, said that the establishments will operate inside and outside the Central Valley.

Re-announcing the Hospital Construction

The Guatemalan Social Security Institute announced that it plans to invest $390 million in the construction of eight hospitals in different areas of the country.

Representatives of the Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS) informed that the investments will be financed with their own funds and the new hospitals will be in the departments of Zacapa, Jutiapa, Petén, Escuintla, Quetzaltenango and Guatemala.

Nicaragua: $60 million for New hospital

July 2011

The two-story hospital with 300 beds will be ready in three years and will be financed by Dutch investors and the Nicaraguan government via a BCIE loan.

The Ministry of Health announced that the construction of the hospital in the Managua District III will be undertaken as part of the cooperation agreement recently signed between the Nicaraguan government and the Netherlands.

Hospital Metropolitano Expands in Costa Rica

The medical facility will open, during the first half of 2011, two new offices in Tibás and Heredia.

Hospital authorities reported that only in medical equipment they have invested $ 1 million, and that the opening of the center in Heredia is planned for March.

"The medical center expansion will continue in 2011 - due to injection of capital made by Monte Cristo Group (owned by the Durman Esquivel family) when it acquired majority of the shares in September 2010," explained El Financiero.
