The presidential candidate of the Partido Acción Ciudadana, Luis Guillermo Solís, agrees with the industrial sector on the process of tariff reduction that Costa Rica would have to make in order to join the Pacific Alliance involves risks that should be considered carefully.

The President of the Chamber of Industries of Costa Rica, Juan Ramon Rivera said that " ... one of the conditions for entry into the Alliance is a tariff reduction of 100 %."

" ... the terms of accession to the group have to be reviewed. We still do not know what they are, because the negotiation stage is handled confidentially," Solis said.

" ... he agreed with Rivera that this elimination of taxes is "very fast" and argued that the attempt to form part of the Alliance should be reviewed."
