Costa Rica: $144 million for Road Works

With a loan from the IDB, plans are underway to carry out road renovation works on the cantonal road network, especially in the areas affected by storm Nate in 2017.

For the 61 projects in the first stage of PRVC II, the MOPT estimates holding approximately 12 tenders, each of which will include between four and five projects. As part of a second stage, around 64 projects will be worked on, which correspond to about 41 million dollars and are currently in the analysis phase.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance:

April 4, 2018. A total of 61 projects estimated at 43 million dollars will be part of the first stage of The Cantonal Road Network II Program (PRVC II), whose execution is the responsibility of the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation and will be financed with resources from a loan of US $144 million approved by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) at the end of March.

This was reported this afternoon by the Ministries of Finance and Public Works and Transport, which clarified that all these projects correspond to interventions on roads, 66% of which were affected by the passage of Tropical Storm Nate last October.

Honduras Negotiating $134 million for Road

The government is negotiating with the IDB over using the proceeds of a loan signed in 2010 to build 172 kilometers of roads in the south.

The project includes the construction of the CA5-South highway, which includes the Tegucigalpa-Choluteca sections which is 132 kilometers long and Jícaro Trouser Amatillo, 40 kilometers long.

Honduras: $17 Million Loan for Roadworks

The Inter-American Development Bank has approved a loan to Honduras for $17.2 million to be used to support the expansion of the CA-5 North, the main highway in Honduras.
