Copa Airlines has solid financial program

The company reported a reduction in earnings for the third quarter due to the rise in fuel prices, but its income continue with strong growth.

The global panorama for the transit of passengers does not look good for the global airline industry.

In October, the movement of international passengers dropped 1.3% compared to the same month last year, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

But in comparison to most other airlines, Copa continue to experiment an increase in passengers, which coupled with the drop in fuel prices, promises healthy results for the rest of the year and for 2009.

Copa Airlines Carries 20% More Passengers

June 2013

In the first five months of 2013, the airline carried 5.8 million passengers, representing an increase of 20% compared with the same period last year.

If the trend continues, the company will exceed its estimated 11 million passengers scheduled for this 2013. Copa Holdings, owner of the shares of the Panamanian airline Copa Airlines reported that its transport capacity has increased by 19%.

Copa Announces New Flight to Chicago

As of December 15, 2011, Copa Airlines will operate a new nonstop service between Chicago and Panama.

Chicago will then become the sixth Copa Airlines destination in the United States. The airline announced the new service at a press conference held in New York to celebrate the fifth anniversary of its listing on the New York Stock Exchange and to announce its expansion plans.

Copa Profits Down 66% in Second Quarter

In the second quarter of 2010, Copa Airlines recorded net income of $18.6 million, 66% less than in the same period of 2009 when it was $55.2 million.

The company's total revenue increased 9.3% to $303 million and its capacity was also up 5%. However, its performance per passenger mile fell 2.5% to $0.152, largely due to lower prices in Venezuela and Colombia.

Copa traffic increases 15%

Between January and September 2008 the number of passengers that traveled grew 15.1% compared to the same period in the previous year.

According to prensa.com, "the airline moved 2.07 million passengers via the Tocumen airport, 273 thousand more than the previous year.

The airport statics report by Tocumen S.A. for the third quarter provides data for passengers that travel to Panama on all the airlines.
