Construction Company Cusa To Widen David-Boquete Highway in Panama

FCC Construcción was ruled out of the contest, as it failed to reach the minimum score at the technical evaluation; Cusa is expected to win the contract.

After reviewing the proposals of the only two companies which participated in the process, the evaluation committee disqualified Spanish builder FCC Construcción, as it failed to meet the minimum technical requirements.

“Because of this, construction company Cusa, whose bid was priced at $117.6 million ($331.350 less than the reference price), is very likely to win the contest”, reported Prensa.com.

Argentinean construction company Benito Roggio won a contract to build the Divisa-Chitré highway in the province of Herrera.

The evaluation committee took into consideration technical specifications, experience, responsibility and reasonable pricing. Roggio’s bid was priced at $109.9 million.

Panama: Two Companies Interested in Boquete-David Highway

Just two companies, “Constructora Urbana” (Cusa) and “FCC Construcción” (FCC) submitted bids to build the highway between Boquete and David.

Cusa’s bid was priced at $118 million, plus a guarantee of $16 million, while FCC’s was priced at $127 million and a $13 million guarantee.

Panama: 18 Builders Interested in David-Boquete Highway

18 construction companies have declared their interest in participating in the public bidding process on April 26, 2010.

These include Constructora Urbana S.A. (CUSA), Norberto Odebrecht, Santa Fe and Constructora ICA.

Works comprise rehabilitating the entire highway and widening the road to 4 lanes between Porras and Los Algarrobos.
