Costa Rican construction outstrips rest of economy
Construction is growing faster than the economy as a whole in Costa Rica, and a flood of foreign investment appears to be behind it.

The government's monthly index of economic activity reveals a wide gap between construction and other sectors, with export growth slowing notably in the face of financial difficulties in the United States.
In July the Monthly Economic Activity Index showed an annual variation of 3.2%, confirming predictions of a slowdown in the second half of 2012.
In March 2013 the IMAE grew by 5.92% compared to 13.75% in March 2012, making it the lowest month of growth in the last 24 months.
In July the MIEA increased by 2.8%, down from 3.19% registered in the same period of 2012.
In the first eight months, economic activity increased by 5.23% over the same period in 2009.
