Complaints about Hospital City Tender Rejected

Panama's Comptroller General has disallowed complaints submitted by the two bidding groups: Samsung Construction and Trading Corporation, and Sacyr / Interplus.

The complaints submitted claim that the evaluating committee did not act properly in awarding most points to the company FCC.

Prensa.com reports that, "Samsung stated that FCC's candidacy contained legal failings while the Spanish companies felt they had not received enough points".

Both complaints were rejected as lacking any legal basis.

The $587 million contract can now be awarded to FCC group.

Panama: Bids Reviewed for Tender for Children's Hospital

The Ministry of Health is to assess the economic proposals presented in the tender for the construction of a new Children's Hospital.

Under the order of the Public Procurement Directorate, the Ministry of Health will review again the economic proposals of the companies that participated in the tender for the construction of the new Children's Hospital, on 18 November.

City Hospital Contract Awarded to FCC

The Spanish company has been awarded the contract for design, construction and financing, after complaints from other bidders were dismissed.

The Social Security Department awarded the City Hospital construction project to the Spanish group FCC who submitted a bid of $587.5 million for the work.

Award of Panamanian Hospital Contracts Suspended

Due to complaints received from Samsung the public acquisitions directorate has suspended the award process.

The evaluating committee had awarded the $386 million contract for five hospitals to IBT Health consortium and FCC Construcción. Korean Samsung C&T Corporation contested the decision.

The Korean company Samsung presented its dispute to the public acquisitions directorate.

Manuel Batista, acting on behalf of Samsung, contests the decision taken by the evaluating committee to invalidate the company’s financial statements due to their being written in Korean.
