Complaints Over Power Purchase

In Honduras, corporate spokespersons are objecting to the terms of a thermal generation electricity purchase agreement awarded by the ENEE to Westport Finance.

Thursday, October 27, 2011

Among the criticisms of the contract for the purchase of thermal power authorized by the Executive on 28th September, are that the conditions regarding the time frame differ to those approved by the Council of Ministers for the procurement of 100 MW.

"The term of the contract should be for 15 years and not only for 12 months.

The emergency decree for the purchase of power to deal with blackouts in the western regions, the Atlantic and eastern Honduras was approved on August 26th by the Council of Ministers, while the direct purchase was authorized by the Executive on 28th September.

This shows that negotiations with the private generator were conducted before the purchase had been approved by the Council of Ministers", reported Elheraldo.hn.
