Honduras launches talks on increase in minimum wage
Trade union and business leaders are studying the impact of the surge in oil prices on the prices of basic necessities with a view to raising the minimum wage, Labour Minister Mayra Mejía confirmed.

The Government, private enterprise and workers agreed to a minimum wage increase of 8% for all sectors.
The 6% increase will apply from next Monday 16 August to both the public and private sectors.
With businesses opposed to the raise, the Labour Ministry has confirmed an increase of between 5.5% and 8% in the different categories of minimum wage.
The Minister of Works expects that during negotiations next Tuesday, businessmen and workers will finally reach an agreement that is acceptable to both parties.
