For the same period last year, exports were 16.8 million 60-kilogram bags.
The cause is a contraction in consumption in major markets for Guatemalan exports, mainly sugar, coffee and rubber.
Exports totaled $7.676 billion in the first quarter of 2013, a decrease of 3.3% compared to exports in the same period last year.
There was a reduction of more than $36 million in foreign sales in January 2009, in comparison to the same month last year.
In the first month of current crop harvest, exports fell by 15.84% over the same period of the previous year.
