Change in exports
Considering the January-September period, between 2013 and 2016 the total volume of exports of frozen shrimp and shrimp from Central America grew compared to the same period last year, by 23% in 2013 and by 7% in 2014. In 2015 the trend changed, registering a decline of 25%. In 2016, exports in the period once again grew, but only by 3%.

Exports by country
In the first three quarters of 2016 Honduras was the largest exporter of shrimp and frozen shrimp, selling 17 thousand tons to countries outside of the region, followed by Panama with 6,000 tons, Nicaragua 4,000 tons, Costa Rica with 794 tons, Guatemala with 870 tons and El Salvador with 25 tons.

Price of regional exports
During the months between January 2012 and September 2016 the lowest average price per kilo, of $5, was registered in April 2013 and the highest was $9.62 per kilo in September 2012.

Export destination
During the first three quarters of 2016, 29% of the volume exported from Central America was destined for the USA, 20% for Mexico, 12% for Taiwan and 11% for the United Kingdom.
