Central America Buying More Diapers in Mexico

Between 2016 and 2017, purchases of diapers and similar items made by the Central American countries in Mexico grew by 5%, going from $120 million to $126 million.

Imports by country 
Last year the main buyer of diapers and similar items in Mexico was Guatemala, with $35 million, followed by Honduras, with $24 million, Panama, with $19 million, El Salvador, with $18 million, Nicaragua, with $16 million and Costa Rica, with $14 million.

Guatemala is the second most important destination market for diapers exported from Mexico, the Central American country is surpassed only by the US. 

Variation of regional imports 

For the years 2016 and 2017 the value imported by Central America to Mexico increased by 5%, a record that contrasts with the 6% drop reported in the period comprised by the years 2015 and 2016.

Even with the fall recorded in 2016, between 2013 and 2017, purchases made by companies in the region in Mexico have grown at an annual average of 5%.

Between 2015 and 2016, the value of diapers and similar items imported into countries in the region fell slightly, going from $289 million in 2015 to $285 million in 2016.
