Central American countries to open tourist office in Miami

Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua have joined forces to open an office in Miami to promote tourism in the region.

El Salvador's Tourism Minister, Rubén Rochi, said in a press release that the four nations will have a new promotion office, starting tomorrow.
The purpose of the office is "to position our tourism destines in the most important market in the region, which is the United States and Canada," the press release said.
The office will provide a communication link between the countries and all persons, companies, tour operators, wholesalers, and media in the United States that need information.

Central American to introduce tourism security system

Central American countries have approved a project to boost tourist security in the region, according to a press release from El Salvador's Tourism Ministry.

The agreement was signed at a meeting of the Central American Security Commission in El Salvador on the weekend.
El Salvador's tourism minister and currently president of the Central American Tourism Board, Rubén Rochi, said the Tourism Security System was designed by Iñaki Garmendia, a consultant from the World Tourism Organization, and officials from the Salvadorean Tourism Corporation.
