Most of these centers provide technical support, financial services or software development, but there are other less known center that are facing life or death situations, explained Juan Diego Villegas, local manager of Language Line (LLS), which provides simultaneous Spanish-English interpretation over the phone.
Language Line Services announced it will double the translation and interpretation services it provides to the United States in the form of 911 calls, legal proceedings in courts, and health services.
New lines of business represent further diversification and specialization of operations in Costa Rica. Convergys currently has over 2000 workers in the country providing service in English, Portuguese and Spanish
Two companies detected an opportunity in the call center boom and are hoping to become the number one provider of the infrastructure that is needed by these centers.
