Imports by Country
During the second quarter of 2021 the main importer of hydraulic cements in Central America was El Salvador with $0.7 million, followed by Guatemala with $0.6 million, Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua with $0.1 million.

Change in Regional Imports
Between the second quarter of 2020 and 2021, the value imported into the region decreased by 99.64%, from $87.4 million to $0.3 million.

Origin of Imports
During the first quarter of 2021, 35.92% of the value purchased came from China, for the United States of America it was 19.83%, 18.68% from Russia, 14.52% from Colombia, 7.16% from El Salvador, 2.01% from Venezuela and Germany with 1.87%.

China is the market of origin of imports that has grown the most in the last nine years, given that in 2012 no significant purchases were reported and for the second quarter it accounted for the largest percentage of the total imported by the region.

Cement: Regional Purchases Up 9%

September 2018

In the first three months of 2018, countries in Central America imported $36 million worth of hydraulic cement, 9% more than was purchased in the same period in 2017.
