Car Sales in Costa Rica Drop 50%

Faced with falling sales, agencies are counting on better financing offers both in interest rates and time.

Rodolfo Gonzalez wrote in the ElFinanciero website: "For example, the usual flat rate of 14% for the first year fell to 8.5% and 8.75% in several agencies (Disexport and Purdy Motors.)
Many of these deals expired at the end of February, but a more dynamic action is expected from the banks during “Expomovil,” which will take place from March 13 to 22, in which HSBC, Scotiabank, Bank of Costa Rica and BAC San Jose have already confirmed their participation."

Panamanian Car Sales Increase

October 2011

In the first nine months of the year new car sales increased by 26% compared to the same period in 2010.

According to the Automobile Dealers Association of Panama (ADAP), in September a total of 32,720 new cars were sold. Sector expectations are that at the end of the year the total amount of cars sold will be 44,000.

It is the fifth edition of this car show, where companies showcase and sell vehicles.

Sale of automobiles slows in Panama

Sales by the sector reflect the economic condition of the country. Next year, car sales will depend on banking policies.

This rate of growth, 33% of sales, is the lower than in 2007.

According to the Superintendence of Banks, 16 entities are competing to grant credit for cars in Panama and 4 are leading the sector.
