Liquid Pumps: Regional Market Grows at 8%

From January to September 2019 Central America imported $171 million in liquid pumps, 8% more than in the same period in 2018, with Costa Rica, Guatemala and Honduras being the markets that grew the most.

Panamanian Companies, Main Buyers
In the first nine months of 2019 the main importer of liquid pumps and parts was Panama, with $44 million, followed by Guatemala, with $42 million, Costa Rica, with $31 million, Honduras with $25 million, El Salvador with $16 million and Nicaragua with $13 million.

Regarding the year-on-year variation in purchases abroad, for the period in question Costa Rica reported a 21% increase, followed by Guatemala with 20%, Honduras with 13%, Nicaragua with 2% and Panama with 0.3%. El Salvador was the only market in the region to register a negative variation, of -9%.

Variation in Regional Business
Between January and September 2018 and the same period in 2019, the value imported into the region grew 8%, from $158 million to $170 million. The value imported from Mexico for the periods in question also increased, in this case by 13%, from $7.9 million to $9 million.

Main Sellers
In the first nine months of 2019, 43% of the value imported from Central America came from the USA, 13% from China, 5% from Mexico, 5% from Germany and 3% from Japan.

In the period from January to September of the last eight years, China has been the market of origin of the imports that has grown the most, since in 2012 it monopolized 8% of the purchases and in 2019 it reached 13% of the total.
