Biodiesel Plant Announced in Honduras

The Association of Palm Growers in Honduras plans to install in 2014 the first biodiesel plant in the country, which would produce 100 million gallons a year.

According to Hector Castro, president of the Association of Honduran Palm Growers, negotiations are already underway to set up the plant to generate alternative fuel.

"This project will be unique in Central America, it will replace current energy, both fuel and electric power generation," said Castro.

Proceso.hn reports, "Castro also noted that the biodiesel plant will produce an alternative fuel and vitamins for human consumption such as vitaim "A" and "E"."
