Main destination and their exporters 
In 2016 the USA accounted for 66% of the value of Central American exports of fresh or dried bananas, worth $1,584 million.
 
According to CentralAmericaData's interactive platform "Crop Monitoring in Central America", of the value exported to the US in 2016, the companies Del Monte, Standard Fruit, Tropical Rica and Cobal accounted for approximately 20%.
 
Variation of regional exports 
Between 2015 and 2016 the export value of fresh or dry bananas increased by 8% going from $2,215 million sold in 2015 to $2,393 million in 2016. The volume exported also grew by 8%, going from 5.2 million tons in 2015 to 5.7 million tons last year.
 
Exports by country
In 2016 the leading exporter of fresh or dried bananas in Central America was Costa Rica with $997 million, followed by Guatemala, with $777 million, Honduras, with $510 million, Panama with $92 million Nicaragua with $17 million and El Salvador, with $2 million.

In the first three months of the year, Central American countries registered $625 million in banana sales abroad, and exports to the Netherlands increased by 38% compared to the same period in 2017.
