Wednesday, March 7, 2012

Taca-Avianca and Aeromexico have agreed to operate a code share which will benefit the Colombia-Mexico market from the first half of 2012, and for the second half of the year, Taca and Aeromexico will code-share, and this will include routes in the Central American-Mexico market as well as South American-Mexico routes, thus giving passengers a greater choice of service, more frequent flights and more travel alternatives in the region.

"The company specifies that when choosing code-share flights, passengers will benefit from greater efficiency in the travel process with a single ticket and a single point of contact all the way through to their final destination, as well as greater opportunity for accumulation and redemption of miles," reads an article on Vanguardia.com.mx.

Last year Avianca-Taca reported a doubling of net profit, amounting to $101.5 million, thanks to lower costs due to the union of the two airlines, as well as high domestic demand in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
