Army and Police in Guatemala Customs Offices

The Guatemalan government has established that the SAT and the Ministries of Defense and Government should work together in order to achieve compliance with the Customs Act.

Monday, October 28, 2013

A Government Agreement states that both ministries should coordinate operations with the Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT) in order to reach this goal for a period of three months.

"... The agreement is to prevent, combat, control and neutralize criminal actions in customs offices and establishes that the activities will not prejudice the monitoring and control functions to be performed by the SAT", noted an article in S21.com.gt.

The SAT requested support from the Government through the collaboration of the Ministries of Defense and Interior to provide security and assistance to the entity and thereby implement the plan for modernization and administrative measures laid out by the superintendent.
