New Shopping Mall Announced in Guatemala

Grupo Roble has announced it will build a shopping mall, of the Multiplaza brand, connected to a Marriott hotel, near the highway to El Salvador.

It is expected that by 2016 the first Multiplaza will be built in Guatemala operating in an area of high value, on the highway to El Salvador. The mall will feature terraces connected to a Marriott Hotel and a mix of shops, restaurants, entertainment and services.

Elsalvador.com reports that "... In the case of the Guatemala Multiplaza, there are not yet any investment figures, but the value is expected to exceed that spent in El Salvador ($100 million in 2004) due to construction costs not being the same. "

"... Roble estimates that in the construction phase between 2000 and 3000 people will be employed. When it is operational, it could generate between 800 and 1,200 direct jobs.
